Dear Students

Welcome to St. Paul Education Centre (SPEC). At the outset let me thank you for choosing SPEC as your guide and mentor for your plus two and future. What we teachers in SPEC want in you is ‘a committed will and an enemy of procrastination’. To illustrate this let me tell you an event took place two thousand years ago.

Once a ruler knelt down before the teacher of all great teachers and asked Him “ Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life ? ” . Master replied “ Obey the commandments !”. The man said confidently “ I do it right from my child hood with utmost care”. The master said “ good ! ,but you lack one thing. Sell all your wealth and distribute it to the poor and needy, then follow me ”. The man was very sad because he was very rich and left the Master

For us, this event is enough to ponder. Let us first identify the man’s strong (positive) points :
  • I find in this ruler a man of great obedience , integrity and commitment.This quality was behind his success in life. He was a ruler. He was very rich .Richness in many things not only in wealth but in health, intelligence, power etc. If you want to succeed (in life), obey your parents (commandment) and teachers with total dedication like this man’s testimony.
  • I find in this ruler a man of great vision( or aim). We are in a group having no clear cut (great) vision or losing aims at times !. If so, we must be wise enough to recognise the odds against it and correct it.
  • I find in this ruler a man of great ability to identify the right master. There were so many masters whom he could approach. But he knelt down before this Master only. This is an important area when it comes to selecting friends, masters, institutions etc. Use your wisdom not mere publicity.

Let us now identify his weak points :

What was his draw back ? Being rich? Certainly NOT. But what ? . What I find is this, instead of being the master of his wealth ,he happened to be the slave of it. Master controls his subjects and slave is controlled. Master can control and direct all his ‘wealth’, not being controlled by it. Slave is controlled by every one. So you should be the master of all your habits (good or bad) ,your addictions and your possession . You should control them by your wisdom and not let them to rule you.
